Sion has two Norse references, but Riza has none. Sexist!
The Ruins of Frey are forgettable. The only thing I can recall is the secret passage. You'll be able to see a treasure chest on the other side of a wall with no obvious way to get there. Dig around the darkness of the hallway you just passed through to find a pair of boots that will prove helpful and something else. At the top is a stone face that's a bit nicer than the others.
We have his boots, so let's beat up their owner. Opsis uses a lot of water spells, so prepare accordingly. The usual tacit works. He has high magic defense, so stick to physical attacks. This fight was just to test our strength. Opsis informs us that we can't save the world anyway, and the purification that Riza is doing means nothing. This is simply as it should. If we remain stubborn, he brings up the Four Greats and thinks we should find one, Mayura.
We took the train to the Sacred Temple. There are two floor switches that drop you to the floor below. Both are to treasure. The room with chests has two new gear for Tule and two mimic battles that reward nothing. This'll be a third floor switch that drops a healing point in a future room near the boss. I don't remember why we fight, but we do.
Mayura's dark attacks aren't too bad. She has high magic defense, so the usual tactics work. This might have been the easiest boss in a while. Afterwards, she'll say something about an egg before commanding Sion to wield the useless Graham's Sword where she stood. He does, and it causes chaos. The heavens of the Danem fall onto the planet below, making all those land bridges Surlent used. We watch it begin to fall just as the Arc lands before us. Cid, Dune, and Ramylith exit and ushers in the confused group before it goes bad. Everyone wonders if Surt, our arch nemesis, betrayed us as we return to Len. Cid and Dube stay aboard, which is probably fine.
Blah, blah, blah, Surt lied, but we did return to Earth. But now it's time to get our revenge! Put everyone in the back row. Surt has high defense and attack, so we'll be spamming spells for a while. As his name suggests, he's vulnerable to water, so scribe some good mantras. His tactics change when he's half dead, so bring fire defense.
Ramylith tells us we should visit the Sigmund Glacier again because the Danem Rudra is there. The dungeon is quick and straightforward until we reach the heal jar. We get a clue that only kinda works. Go two rooms north and then try to return. That takes you to where you need to go. If you want an Ice Sword, though, screw it up. It's a pretty okay weapon. Guarding Sigmund's Sword (three Germanic references) is a cloud named Diyrus.
He uses wind, so he's weak to thunder. For some reason, the hamlet sword sucked. Regardless, I'm sure you know what to do. Upon victory, Sion pulls the second mythical sword out of the stone. A voice warns us that we just freed a monster, and the world starts to shake. All the ice melts instantly, and we're all shaken off the mountain. We fall into a lake and get eaten by a fish.
We now make our way through a fish that we'll soon learn is called a Heg. We'll need to travel across sinew and arteries to get to a monster that's possessed it. Gol-Gee uses water and is weak to fire. We can't kill it, or else our leviathan will die. Apparently, Risa purified the water recently, but it's not good enough for the heg. The virus offers to control it if we can save it. Foxy remembers she exists and thinks her dad's Holy Grail.
The heg takes us to Avdol, which is a zombie hellhole. We travel the desert, and Foxy finally sees what's happened to her home. It turns out Emira didn't die; he just moved to Orieb. Find him in a house in the northwest so we can learn what happened. He refers to more Surlent stuff, so we return to Avdol.
We overhear three cultists talking about the state of the town and follow them down to Meunch's lab. While there, the zombie form of the doctor receives and joins the cult. He's actually just possessed, so we have to kill the demon.
And here's where I goofed! I had to take a break because this guy frustrated me. But then I forgot to return. Me, forgetting about ToR? No way! Anyway, I'll try again tomorrow before I get back to Riza's scenario.
Dune and Cid ran off with the airship again, but no one cared. Apparently, it couldn't help us...
