Heel turn

And the plot picks up, just like my temperature.

Kazuki and the team arrive in Nanjing. The fighting is about to begin, but the civilians are still going about their daily lives. Kazuki demands that Chang pull back, but he knows retreat means we can't take Shanghai. Luckily, a former DHZ soldier arrives with two helicopters to evacuate all the civs. Liang Hua and her scared friend are the real MVPs here. With an evac for the innocents, the battle begins.

If both helicopters are taken down, then we lose. There are only two wanzers that can properly harm them, so destroy the spider guys and their missiles. The four conventional mechs target you and interfere, while the assortment of people suck at aiming. It takes three or four turns until the two pull out, and this becomes a standard battle.

Kazuki bursts into the new HQ at Nanjing, but Chang is unamused. Sadly, even Kwang agrees with him. Ryoji tries to calm down his friend, but it doesn't work. I'm actually on Kaz' side with this one for the first time all game. We can head out to the city now for a few new wanzer weapons. The people at the bar are upset at the government because they tried to kill them, but nothing is here. Return to HQ for a random soldier to tell us Emma is in a pickle.

This fight isn't too bad. Emma and her crew aren't here, but we'll see them afterwards. The grenadier killed his own friend and barely harmed us, so I got lucky. Probably would have lost if he were a better shot. Emma and Kazuki have a reunion, and Kaz scolds her. She says why she got ambushed but defends her actions by knowing Kazuki would save her. We return to HQ, and Kaz is still angry. We get fired/quit, so we'll find our own way to Shanghai.

Emma had a new plan, and it worked! We casually stroll into the airport, but someone is waiting. It's Rudy and Becky. They have an accompaniment of tanks and two armored cars to launch missiles at us. I killed Becky (again) on round one, and Rudy retreated for the rest of the battle. This gave me free rein for Yun to destroy everything. Even climbing on the terminal couldn't save the Wukong leader from defeat. Honor eludes you today.

Dennis finds a railcar to take us to the embassy. He makes a sudden stop, angering Yun, because Real Numbers are here. Focus on one at a time and hope the launchers in the back don't shoot Kazuki to pieces. I keep placing him third on n the order, which I'm told is supposed to make him less likely to be attacked, but he's always the center of attention.

Kazuki punches his way into the embassy. It's starting to blow up for some reason, so Kazuki and Emma head upstairs on foot. They find Alisa, but Bal is here too. Sure would be a dick move if I called it a night here, huh...
