We start tonight off in a dream. The naked girl who appears when we use the white Miracle, Ragnarok, is speaking to Alouette, who believes this to be Poitreene. The divine being speaks to our party member and tells her to seek out Fatima. Alouette has no idea what that is. The Goddess' words begin to falter, but she gets out various keywords such as the Dark Prince and Maiden of Light. We get the feeling the end of times is coming again.
We're all in Father Salade's study again, with Alouette disclosing the details of what happened. Some think it's a dream and others wonder if it was a direct message from the Goddess. Prier is mildly upset she wasn't the one who had the dream since she's the next Maiden of Light, so she takes her frustration out on her brother. Prier asks Croix his thoughts, but he doesn't respond as she wishes he would have. This upsets her for reasons she's not totally sure about. Regardless of what it is, no one knows what Fatima is. Salade suggests checking out the Royal Library, and, since we have time, that's what we do.
We head to Castle Croissant and meet with the Queen. When we ask to visit the archive, she forbids us from doing so. There are problems in the castle, and she can't afford outsiders to stay too long. Eclair tries to vouch for us, but the Queen is duty bound. Eclair doesn't understand, but her mother tells her she will one day. Before we leave, Colette asks if there's anything that we can do to help. This changes the Queen's outlook, and she tells us of a pressing matter. It would appear that the castle is haunted by an unknown dark knight. It's scared off two workers, and the Queen has no idea what to do. If we can get rid of it, she promises us access to the library.
That night, the whole team is in the courtyard. Alouette asks Colette how he knew the Queen had problems, and he says that it just made sense that a ruler of a nation would need help. We ignore the fact the Queen just mentioned problems and that the townsfolk in the city have eluded to a dark knight for a few chapters now. But hey, we congratulate the boy on his brainpower. The conversation is quickly dropped because a ghostly figure enters the yard. It flies past the fountain and appears before us. It's a woman with long purple hair wearing just enough armor to get by the censorship committees. She pulls a lightsaber lance, and we do battle.
The goal is to defeat the boss, but she's accompanied by several sentient flames of various elements. For some reason, most of these flames form a perfect path to use a Miracle attack. Defeat the one closest to the spawn point, and purify the source to remove all but two flames. From here, inch painfully slowly to the target. I took out the remaining flames because they got in the way and might have been a lot of trouble otherwise. Dark Knight can take out most characters in one shot, but it's only a single target ability. Her basic attacks can be healed off easily. This isn't that hard.
When the dust settles, the voluptuous knight falls to the ground, transforming into basic Eclair in the process. Colette thinks that the stress of being a Princess and the Maiden of Light training has turned her into a split personality. Rather than inform the guards or the Queen, Alouette asks everyone to pray. They all ask the Goddess for aid, begin to glow, and are teleported into a sepia tone forest. Alouette falls to the ground again because she goes hard when she prays. Croix says she could have died again, but she recovers. This is the mind of Eclair, and we've tasked ourselves to root out the darkness and cause of the fake Eclair.
Stage One, Closed Heart, is a battlefield riddled with zombies. There's nothing else here.
After the fight is the typical dungeon map. The option of returning to the castle courtyard is here, and it takes us to where we fought Dark Knight before. There's a hooded man here, in case we want to see a monster off, and an Escargot cat that works as a shop. This is as close to the world map as we'll get, but it does restore our HP, which is all I need. But you can't save, so this is where I messed up. I went to train my bear, but I caused its happiness to drop to zero. That made him run away, and I'm not continuing without my best character. I had to restart the whole chapter last night and work back, which is why I skipped last night's update. I made sure nothing would harm them this time, though. The right side of the screen takes us back to the map selection screen.
I don't know if it matters, but I went through every map.
My stage two, Resigned Heart, has us meeting an Eclair. She asks us not to make her Queen, Prier hesitates to answer, so Eclair settles and agrees to become the ruler. Dark Eclair appears and says she's kidding and flies off. The battle consists of zombies and flames.
Stage Three is Fleeting Heart. Eclair just doesn't want to be anything everyone is tossing onto her. She bears the weight of the world. Twice. The battle consists of zombies and flames.
Stage Four, Lying Heart, is where things stay the same. It's just a battle with zombies and flames, but there's a new type of zombie here.
The final Stage, True Heart, is where we finally fight Dark Eclair. She's worried about the pressure put on her to be Queen and the Maiden of Light. Despite being the heir to the most powerful person in the country, she feels as though she has no freedom. She's powerless and must suffer through everything despite not wanting it. No one understands that. No one even tries to consider it. Prier suggests Eclair just not worry about it, but that's the stupidest thing the not-Princess has ever heard. Electricity emanates from her, and the battle begins.
The usual assortment of mobs are here, and the objective is to defeat the boss. Of course, I took out the ads. Dark Eclair has the same tactics as before, so outnumber them before they can outnumber you. The real Eclair emerges as we're kicked out of the young girl's heart. We're next in either the infirmary or Eclair's room. The Queen is shocked that Eclair was the dark knight and thanks us for what we've done. She ponders asking Prier to talk Eclair into taking what's hers but stops and simply asks her to keep being her friend. Eclair is out cold and can't speak, but the Queen does give us access to the library despite us not getting any sleep.
Inside the library are books. Sadly, none of them are about Fatima. In a rage, Prier kicks a bookcase, and dust flies up as shelves start to move. She's found a secret passage. Prier turns around to see her friends have backed far away from any potential hazards. She understands the weak Alouette and pusillanimous Colette, but the brave and handsome Croix!? What if something fell on top of her? Who'd save her from such distress? In another bit of range, she scowls into the hidden room while everyone wonders what happened. Colette seems to have caught on to his sister's emotion but keeps it a secret. Down in the secret room are flying pumpkins, but I'll have to defeat them...
...tomorrow!
Finally, a character with an exciting backstory and unknown character growth! Although, since I don't know how the game ends, doesn't everyone have a secret future? But she's an interesting character, nonetheless, even if she's not on the team yet. I looked it up, and part two is gonna be pretty short, so I wish I had just kept playing. It's just slightly too long and has a very lengthy scene at the end filled with question marks. Maybe this is for the best, but I'll figure that out...
...tomorrow! ...I haven't done this in a while. Sorry.
