Let's all walk in lava!

Dear, Diary,

"Before we went to the Dwarfem Caves, we returned to Cannon to tell Salina what happened. Or, we tried to. I didn't have the heart to say Desch is dead.

Before we went to the Dwarfem Caves, we took a vacation! We saw a small village on the otherside of a mountain range when we traveled around the world on chocoboback the other day. The only way to reach it is by the sea. It's called Gyshal, and they herd sheep and chocobos there. Someone told us to use Gyshal Greens in a Chocobo Forest to summon the head guy in charge. I wonder who that could be? We also found a key maker who sells his wares on the cheap. We bought five because we don't trust Xander to break into anything and went back to Castle Argus. We found two locked doors last time, and we want what's in them. Inside are several treasures, most of which we can't use. No one in our party is a nerd...

Without further delay, we went to the Dwarfem Caves. Inside were stout fellas who seemed kinda sad. Speaking to a few of them reveals a thief, Gutsco, stole one of their Ice Horns. They somehow managed to protect the other one with a magical barrier, but not after Gutsco made off with one. The leader told us about the vagabond's whereabouts, and we went down to the Subterranean Lake!

Why do we keep turning into frogs?! Not only does it waste my precious MP, but it's gross. I don't like being slimy! The lake area is filled with guys weak to lightning. Xander still has two Spark Daggers, which make short work of our opponents. Drew is still good at punching, regardless. Triton was still there, and I was the backup. Ol' reliable backup! After a while, we reached the very bottom. There we saw a green man with wings. Why was he only wearing a loincloth?

Don't let his looks deceive you. This guy is tough. He acts fast and hits hard. I was busy trying to heal the whole fight, but I'm pretty sure everyone else attacked until they got hit with Mini. Mini lowers one's defense, so try to remove that, or else the already strong arm of Gutsco will hit even harder. It was a messy fight, but I think we all survived? Eventually, though, we got 'em!

He vanished before our eyes! We figured this was just his thing and thought nothing of it. I did wonder why we suddenly were being followed by a shadow, though? Not wanting to become a frog again, I decided to cast Teleport for the first time. We went back to the dwarf leader and handed him the Horn of Ice. He removed the ward and placed the horn in its place, And then we heard a disembodied voice. I must learn to speak from nowhere like all of our enemies one day. It turns out Gutsco had been following us the whole time! Why did my teleport spell pick him up?! With the barrier down, he could now steal both horns. The dwarfs told us that those horns block the path to the Fire Crystal. With those out of the way, Gutsco has free range to the thing we have to protect!

North of the Dwafen Hollow once stood a great tower. Now, though, it's just a cave. A cave filled with lava that we need to wade through. Not only do we need to sniff rotten eggs, but we have to wade through literal magma. Somehow it only kinda hurt. But it did hurt. We took the journey slowly, teleporting out twice to make sure we didn't burn to death. There were some good items down here, and I'm glad we went through the task of getting most of them. After a third attempt to reach the bottom, we made it there in one piece. We downed a few potions to pick ourselves up and approached Gutsco. He bragged about stealing the horn and the power of the Fire Crystal. But he wanted more. He planned to kill us to prove he's the superior creature. He turned into a Salamander, and into battle, we went!

This was not very fun. Gutsco/Salamander started off nice and slow, just learning what his new body could do. We used that time against him and did some big damage. But then he remembered he's a dragon. His Fire Breath... I can still smell Drew's flesh melting. Luckily, Triton, Xander, and I were decked out in Ice Armor. "Heer durr, I'm a monk. hugh hugh hugh." How'd that work for ya? From there, all bets were off. I saw my life flash before my eyes at least four times. I went through all my Bilzzara spells. My Blizzard spells barely did anything, though, so I started spamming Cure as best I could. Triton went all out and got as close as he could. Xander spent all of our magical items. Arctic Wind was such a lifesaver... I don't know how, but we did it. The dragon died. He vanished again, but this time it was for good.

Behind him was the shining light of the Fire Crystal. It spoke to us and granted us its power. There's nothing I'm really interested in, but Triton took this time to upgrade to a knight! It feels familiar. I'm all for it because maybe now I don't have to heal all the time. Two healers sounds fun. We warped back to the Dwafen Hollow and returned their horns. The leader thanked us and gave us passage to the treasury. Inside are similar stuff to castle Argus, but there was also some great gear for knights. It's like fate is on someone's side. As we went to leave, a villager from Tokkus showed up. He informed us more knights from Argus invaded the town. Since there was nothing left, they planned to burn it. Upon saying this, he perished. His last words were a plea to save his home. And we'll heed that plea!"
