Tower of Providence

Big twists today!

---

"We weren't done with the thunder yet. We reached the outskirts of the tower, but the lightning frequency grew, and it was all around us. We noticed some strange contraptions on the ground, but there was no time to figure out what they were. So we booked it?

So we got struck by lightning! We managed to run back to camp to be confused. We considered returning to Highland, but Karna and Ozam noticed we weren't alone. Karna threw a knife at a tree, and a scared Calilica fell from behind it. She saw us sneak out and followed us here. She, too, felt that Lezza was hiding something and wanted to see Eldeel. We were worried about the visuals of a group disappearing along with a child, but we decided seeing god was more important than taking her back to town. And it's a good thing, too.

Calilica told us the contraptions were lightning rods. She could activate them, giving us ample time to cross. We ran from rod to rod and made it in! There was an elevator to the top that Cali tried to activate, but it wasn't working. Much to Duren's chagrin, we had to climb the entire tower. And it was a long climb.

Along the way were the tower's guardians. They all reminded me of the steel centaur in the Underground Ruins, which I imagine means they're mechanical. One was a golden beetle that rolled at us. The most common was probably the spiders who appeared from nowhere. There are several types of humanoid guard armor. None of those were really special. The only ones to note were the horses from chess. They could teleport and fire balls of energy at us. Being hit by them made us heavy. They were weak to blunt damage but had so much HP that I'm not sure it mattered. There was also the most dreaded monster known to adventures: the mimics. I am angry!

One of the real chests contained Gale Boots. They let us run super fast, and we could even run up vertical walls with enough speed. They'd come in handy.

About halfway up the tower was the strongest guardian, Krell-Emecia. It stood in the middle of the room and shot various lasers at us. We couldn't harm it, so we went after the motors around it. They tried to create forcefields to deflect our attacks, but Karna's knives and Cali's Gravity Well skill broke through. It stopped moving, and we went on. As we left the room, though...

It joined us on the outside of the tower. It chased us all the way to the top. Not only was that an adversary, but the steep slopes and sheer walls stood before us. But the Gale Boots allowed us to avoid most of the damage. It spawning bombs wasn't kind. At the top was another fight against Krell.

And this was a doozy. It spun around like crazy and gave me deja vu. Did I fight something similar before? It turned into a spaceship once and pointed its sharp head at us. Even after we broke its outer hull, a floating orb remained. It didn't do much, but you could tell this was a god's protector.

We finally reached Eldeel's study. Cali opened the door, but no one was home. We went out onto the balcony and saw the guy who controls the world. Eldeel seemed a okay to me. He was glad to see that I was still alive, but Cali asked him about his illness. Eldeel knows Cali can read people well and was worried about Lezza's words, so he tells us even gods have issues. He suddenly got a headache, and a red aura erupted around him. His white hair and wings started turning black. His voice went deeper, and he had a sudden vendetta against me. Why did he want to hunt me down!? He screamed about the Mask of the Sun, but I don't have it! A voice rang out from somewhere, telling everyone to "stop this." Eldeel suddenly collapsed.

Karna and Cali brought Eldeel to his bed while the boys hung out on the balcony. We wondered the hows and whys, l but got nothing. The girls returned just as we heard a loud bang. And then the smell got to us. Someone has fired a cannon. We looked down onto Highland and saw smoke rising from it and quickly returned there. The elevator down was restored, so we took it. We all felt like someone else was here, but we had to ignore it.

We arrived and saw the town in flames. All the shots hit the streets. Warning shots? Suddenly, a group of Romun soldiers ran up to us. They were wearing similar masks to the ones in Comodo. These guys were just as unresponsive and just as ferocious. More ran up to us but were stopped by a new face: Gruda. He was leading the masked division and this raid. They were looking for something. Our attention shifted to the tower as the clouds cleared. Our old friends Bami and Gadis teleported in. Gruda thanked them for sewing this unrest, but whatever they came to find was deeper in the forest. All three of them teleported away, leaving an orange haired man behind. He took off the mask to reveal himself as Remnos. He wasn't brainwashed anymore but was working willingly with Bani. Karna promised to drag him back to Comodo, but Remnoa thinks life there is too boring. That life led him to choose such destruction. I understand the basis of this, but to work under someone so evil isn't much better. He could have joined me on my next adventure! But before Karna could do anything, Rem left. We quickly dispatched the remaining soldiers.

We gathered in the mayor's house. No one was harmed, but this was a dire situation. We discovered that Leeza was kidnapped in the event. Cali went to check on Eldeel and found him gone as well. What is going on? We tried to come up with a reason why and then remembered the page in my grave. Are they seeking the Mask of the Sun? Evil Eldeel yelled at me for it, and masks are a part of the uniform for the soldiers. What is this?

To make things worse, Commander Leo entered the town, looking for Gruda. He's a loyal soldier... But his orders were "voided." Griselda was also here. She informed Mayor Aaron that Gruda's forces were not aligned with her. But she has requested her troops stay here to protect the town. She then told me my orders: continue exploring the forest. She suspects I'm a key player in this and should keep doing what I'm doing. And with that, I did.

We returned to Casnan to report our progress. We also did some busy work around the four towns. Comodo and Selray have begun trade talks. Calilica will be joining us as a Highlabd representative. Our new mission is to find the village hidden in the Ashen Forest to the west. It is home to people who traveled with Eldeel long ago when he came here from across the ocean. I wonder if I can find that place?"

Memories of Celceta packs a lot of stuff in a short time. I think all Ya games do that, actually.
