Nina's minor adventure

I didn't do much, but I sure spent a lot of time doing it.

I started wondering about some of our would-be antagonists who hindered our escape. Mr. Mason either wasn't there or has no additional dialogue with us. The same can be said for Palet, but I think he just skipped town.

Next, I got the master who wanted fifteen weapons. D'lonzo is now helping Momo to hit things and teaching her to steal. Assuming I level her up... I finished my master quests by getting everything Durandal could instruct and then moved Nina to Mygas. I like him slightly more than Yggdrasil for her. I need one more level for Ryu before he finishes Bunyan. Finally, I got Fahl to be the master of Pico and Garr. To do this, you need to fight thirty battles without resting. Even grinding in the Cedar Woods, this takes a while. I'll switch Garr later, but I'm really liking Peco. I got him a few levels, and his HP is already the highest. He's also got a lot of attack and defense, so I might be running with him as my third. But how do I want to build Ryu now?

But I did do some plot advancement. We finally returned to Wyndia to let the royal family know their daughter isn't dead. A guard is thrilled she's back, and we skip to the royal dinner. Nina regals her parents of her actions, and they're thankful that we've taken care of her. They're especially grateful for Ryu. Nina is about to tell them about his ability to transform, but Garr interrupts and gets the convo on track. In order to go to the Angel Tower, we need a passport from the King. He quickly grants us one, but Nina is upset. She was hoping we'd stay longer, but we're shipping off that night. Sadly, the Princess won't come with.

That night, Nina is in her room, alone, and hears a commotion downstairs. She investigates and finds a maid has dropped a plate. The maid thought she saw a rat, but Honey, Momo's robot pet, scurries away. We give chase through the castle and end up outside of a small shack on her personal balcony. Nina wonders where Momo is and goes to pick up Honey. They both somehow jump over the railing and start to fall. Despite being so high up, the two begin to glow and gently land on the ground, unharmed. Honey has become immobile, though, so Nina starts to panic. Her only thought is returning Honey to Momo.

We cut to Ryu, Momo, and Garr at camp. There's a conversation that doesn't mean anything, and Nina rushes in. She informs Momo what happened, and the two of them enter the tent. Meanwhile, Garr warns Ryu of what's to come. It ends when the words "you might die" are spoken. Nina informs the two that Ryu is too strong! Garr tells them learning about dragons that tried to destroy the world might not end well, but Nina is certain Ryu is a good dragon, and there's no need to worry. To make sure nothing goes wrong, she'll join us.

We come to the checkpoint to the east of Wyndia. Two guards are checking passports, but we have one, so it's not a big deal. However, one recognizes Nina... An awkward conversation happens where the guards are confused as to how Garr, a winged reptile, had a human daughter, but we're all able to pass with no issues. We come to a long bridge that separates the countries, and Garr explains that he was inspired by Ryu's heroics and did something to keep us together. And, maybe, more importantly, Garr noticed Ryu only transforms to protect Nina, so she might be worth having around. Nina is shocked, and she promises to learn how to fight to make sure she doesn't hold the party back. Nina, you're already the best character on the team, so don't worry!

But we all cross the bridge and come to the Eastern Islands of the continent. The village of Raphala is nearby, and they're missing a boat! We'll probably have to save it, but that'll come...

...tomorrow!

After the evilcorn saga, I can go where I please. The game feels more open now. Good design choice?
