Send me to Heaven

The team heads into the not-even-remotely palatial estate of Lord Seymour Guado. He keeps us waiting...

While we wait in the foyer, we can talk to everyone. Yuna wonders why Seymour would invite us here. Kimahri doesn't like Seymour, which gets an admonishing from Yuna. Auron tells us to watch Yuna. Wakka and Lulu tell us that Seymour is the offspring of Jyskal, the last guado leader, and a human woman. We later learn that he brought Yevon to the guado and seemed to be good at bringing people together. Rikku is the only one happy to be here. Tromell comes out and brings us into the dining hall. He then leaves again... Yuna and Kimarhi are in the same state. Wakka gets uneasy. Lulu tells us that summoners usually just pass through Guadoslaem as there's no temple here. Since Lulu gave that information unasked, Tidus starts to wonder if she's beginning to believe he's from Zanarkand. Auron has the conversation we need to have. He gives us the vibe that he doesn't trust Yevon. Rikku is eating.

Tromell returns and begins to give biased praise towards Seymour. The Maester comes in and asks him to stop with such honors. He asks us to stay awhile, but Auron says we need to go soon. Because of that, we quickly head to into a room of darkness...I think.

Suddenly, Yuna walks onto a dark floor that begins to turn into a massive, bustling city. Tidus knows it as Zanarkand. We're in a sphere that can show images based on the memories of people from the Farplane. Seymour mentions a "she," and Auron grunts. Yuna wonders who "she" is. The camera cuts to a woman wearing slightly less than a bikini: Lady Yunaleska. She was the first person to slay Sin and the namesake of our Yuna. But it wasn't just her. Her husband, Zaon, was a pivotal part in the first Calm. He enters, and, after the two famous people embrace, the screen goes white, and we see Seymour talking to Yuna. When the world returns to the manor, Yuna is embarrassed and goes to get a drink. Rikku, Tidus, and Wakka ask her what happened, and Yuna says Seymour asked her to marry him. Auron questions the Maester, who responds by saying that summoners are charged with bringing peace to Spira. One such way of doing that is a marriage between Yuna, the daughter of Lord Braska, and Seymour, Lord Jyskal's son. He gives us time, and Auron tells everyone we're leaving. As we do, Seymour says something strange to Auron: "Why are you still here, sir?" The guado can smell the scent of the Farplance, and Tidus sniffs the guardian.

Tidus doesn't understand why Yuna would get married now, for love or status, as we need to kill Sin first. Rikku seems happy about it. Yuna wants to discuss things with her father, so we decide to go to the nearby Farplane. The Farplane is a fancy place where the living can see the dead in Guadosalam. As we approach, Tidus asks the questions you're all asking while conjuring up images of ghosts and haunts. Wakka just tells us we'll see. As we climb the stairs, Auron takes a seat. He says he doesn't belong there and has no desire to bring up the past. Rikku agrees and doesn't want to see her memories because "that's all they are," so the two of them have a friendly chat probably.

Tidus enters the soap bubble and comes out on a floating platform over a massive hurricane eye. Around him are his comrades, standing in front of their dead relatives. Wakka is talking to Chappu, filling him in on the journey thus far. He then starts talking about Tidus and the sword. The Brotherhood sword we got in Besaid was Chappu's sword. It suddenly gets a massive power boost.
Lulu is trying to get over Chappu. "He is dead, and I am still alive." Tidus helps her move on from her love by suggesting she and Wakka would make a great couple. She doesn't seem fond of it and tells Tidus he should learn something about women. She then says goodbye to Chappu and says those were the happiest days of her life.
Yuna is talking to her parents, both of them. She says she's decided on the proposal. She won't marry him. She reminisces about the day Braska killed Sin and the jubilee it caused. "I must do what is best of everyone, not just me." When Yuna asks Tidus to call Jecht, he (Jecht) doesn't show up. Yuna is happy he's alive but still doesn't know he's Sin. Tidus wonders what he'd say if anyone found out before realizing he has nothing to apologize for. He doesn't want to see his father again because of how he treated his mom...who then shows up before him. No one performed The Sending for her, so how's she here? Yuna says she accepted her death, and Tidus gets mad. He then flashes back to his mom fawning over Jecht, completely ignoring him. When Jecht left, his mom "lost her energy." Auron asked how she was because he doesn't know what he'd do, which shows he's been around for a very long time. When exactly did he get to Zanarkand? Wakka and Lulu are done, so we all head out of the Farplane.

As we do, a spirit gives chase! Lord Jyskel tries to exit the Farplane, so Auron tells Yuna to send him. Auron begins to writhe in pain but keeps it cool. When Yuna finishes the dance, the ghost drops a sphere, which is a camcorder of sorts. We all return to Guadosalem, so Yuna can tell Seymour she's not gonna marry him. During the time, we can talk to the group again. Tidus goes with Lulu to discuss Yuna getting married. She also wants the pilgrimage to continue and isn't phased by love. Yuna wants to bring peace to Spira, no matter the method, and Lulu is fond with either choice. She'd prefer a marriage of love, but she's not in favor of marrying the man Yuna loves. She then tells us not to fall for Yuna, and you can choose three options, one of which is fun. We see Kimarhi leaving the potions shop. He tells us that guado potions are good, but there's no difference in quality. Rikku is lamenting the upcoming Thunder Plains. Everyone else is hanging out by the manor. Walk towards the Thunder Plains, and we'll see Shelinda. She'll tell us Seymour left for the temple. The camera cuts to Yuna talking to the painting of Jyskal when Rikku tells her to hurry up. Tidus tells the group that Seymour went to "Macarena Temple." Wakka corrects him, and Tidus gives an "AYE." I didn't expect a Macarena reference in Final Fantasy X, but I'll take it. We set off.

Lightning flashes in the sky, and Rikku is scared. Lulu tells us about the lightning rod towers, and Wakka tells us to stick to them. Rikku wants to go back. Welcome to the bane of every FFX player's existence: Lightning Dodging. I'm terrible at it, so I won't be getting Lulu's best weapon! Explore this place later when you have a No-Encounter armor on. Along the way, we see Maechen, who tells us about Bilghen, an Al BHED (not bead), who built the lightning towers we see. This used to be a dangerous place until he appeared to make it slightly safer. As he constructed the last one, he was struck by lightning and killed. Shelinda is also here and congratulates Yuna on her marriage. We can either douse the girls' hope or promote them. Halfway through this place, we nearly get struck by lightning. Wakka laughs in that way people who nearly died do, and Lulu tells him to stop. He listens. Then, more laughing comes from behind us. Rikku is forcing herself to laugh in the creepiest way. She then drops to her knees and spider crawls towards Tidus' leg out of fear. She tries to convince everyone to rest in Rin's Travel Agency, despite the storm being eternal.

Outside the shop, she guilt trips the group four times. We can rush in sooner if you want to adjust the affection mechanics in Rikku's favor, though. Once inside, Yuna rents a room, and Rikku remains scared. She tells us that she was at the beach once when a fiend attacked. Her brother, Brother, attacked the fiend using magic. Unfortunately, he missed and hit her with a lightning spell. Rin comes out, and Rikku tells him to "shh." From him, we find out that Rin helped Auron ten years ago. Rin helped the severely wounded guardian after Braska defeated Sin but was surprised to see him gone the next morning. Auron doesn't want to talk about it. We can speak to the rest of the group, but we need to look for Yuna.

Walking toward the back, Tidus hears strange sounds coming from the room. When he awkwardly enters, we see Yuna looking at the sphere Jyskal dropped. We don't get much information, but Yuna says the sphere told the watcher to "take care of Seymour." Yuna leaves in a hurry, and Wakka comes in and gives us a noogie. We then go to sleep. Rikku is still scared, and Auron tries to abandon her. This encourages her just enough to venture out, and we can keep walking north. We walk until Yuna tells us she needs to say something. She's changed her mind and will marry Seymour: "it's what's best for Spira's future and Yevon's unity." Everyone is shocked by the change of heart, except Rikku, and Auron asks if the pilgrimage will continue. It will. Tidus asks about the sphere, but Yuna keeps it to herself until she talks to Seymour. Tidus wonders how, and why, she'd get married now, let alone to someone she probably doesn't love, and he understands less why no one, not even Auron, cares. "it's fine."

We keep walking until the sounds of thunder abate. Rikku is thrilled, and Auron hangs back to talk to Tidus. The two talk about Yuna. Tidus is worried and confused, and Auron suggests "in exchange for agreeing to marry him, she hopes to negotiate with him," but they wonder over what. They worry that Seymour is the better negotiator. They agree that Yuna is too easy to read: "Naive, serious to a fault, and doesn't ask for help." Because of that and her caring attitude, she won't share her plan with anyone.

As we get ready to walk through the Macalania Woods, "Calm Before the Storm" starts to play, but I'll explore...

...tomorrow!

If you're confused about the marriage, you're supposed to be. I'm not, though, so I think I've forgotten more about the game than I thought. Oh, dear...
