A lot, while simultaneously, absolutely nothing.

Before getting on, I went side questing. I found a book I turned into Rod, to which he repaid the favor with four strength increases. I also got the Fine Wine item, which, if given to Hobbs in the stat store, lowers the cost from 300000 to 5000g. So never grind in Threads of Fate, just buy your way to the top.

After finding a side path in the forest that leads to nothing but me raging, I went on with the story. I turned the gemstone into Klaus, who began work on the amulet just as Mint returned with the tiara. She doesn’t mention how she got it, but she seemed suspicious. The tiara was placed on Prima Doll, who ran around excited for a moment before he ran out of energy. Klaus reluctantly inferred we should talk to Mel. I reluctantly talked to Mel.

Fortunately, you’re not here long. Mel says there’s away, but we need to find her floating star children. We talk to the mini-Knuckles, who want us to replay their games, until we find the one we saved. He tells us about Gorotan and sends us to meet him. The floating star child turns into the Cheshire Cat and tries to attack us with lightning. Like previous boss fights, he goes down quickly. I’m starting to think the best strategy in ToF is just attack with all your might. There's no need to doge if you can go all out

Rue returns to the LME basement, turns into Gorotan, and shocks the life into Prima. There's no build-up here, and Rue doesn't warn anyone. He just pop-ins. transforms, and electrifies the place. It works! The fake boy is now overflowing with energy. Rue then goes to hang out while Prima and Klaus make the amulet. The locals, for some reason, talk about Mira and how she used to be a great fighter. I’ve been wondering what she does, as she’s not around often.

Rue goes to the lake, where Mint and Elena are. Elena says she’s going to miss her new friends when they find the [relic]. Mint, after she conquers the world, promises to build a castle to retire to here. Rue says he’ll go back to living in the middle of nowhere before returning to the basement.

The jist of what happens here is Rue takes Prima out the same lake he just was. Prima wonders what he’s gonna do when he breaks the seal and fulfills his life meaning. Rue says that as long as you live, you can do whatever. He said it in a way better way, but I’ve forgotten the exact quote, but it was good. I’m sorry, I’m bad.

As they return, Klaus finishes the amulet. They decide to leave for the ruins post-haste, but Klaus’s ankle is still sprained. As they need to find passage first, they decide to do it later. To find that passage, Rue goes to talk to Rod. Rod will take the party on his intricately named boat if Rue beats him and his new weapon. I don’t know if the hammer was named since it beat me up. Finally, a boss fight worthy of my time! Even if you lose, as I did, Mira shows up, and we find out that Rod is a sucker for his Madam. She then invites Rod over for dinner.

Despite dinner being on the stove, and everyone saying they’ll go later, Rue, Rod, and Prima go to the ruins. As they leave, we see Mint, Duke, and Bella on the shore plotting.

Rod drops off the boys and returns home as Prima begins to break and seal. He says a prayer, one that Rue somehow knows as well. How odd... Just as Prima is about to break the seal, he gets interrupted by those guys I supposed was the BBEG. They're led by the legendary Myra. She’s leading the charge and states that their goal is to protect Valen’s [relic] from the outside world. She shows off her own relic, The Book of Cosmos, which pushes Rue back, making him unable to do anything. Rue's hat flies off in the scrum and is able to nullify the book's power. In response, one of the Master people behind <ura seals Rue and then goes to stop Prima. Instead of doing what Puppet Master asks, Prima turns himself to stone. Just before anything worse happens, Mint, Duke, and Bella save the day. They pick up Rue and return to town. We then follow them to the tavern where we learn their plot. Mint promised to share the [relic] with the two. There was some convolution happening, but some real-world things started happening, and I stopped paying full attention. Tonight wasn’t a great night. It was nothing to worry about, though. Somethings happen in a lockdown, ya know?

Before turning in for the night, I go talk to Rod. He tells us more backstory about a lost love named Lucine, I think it was, and infers something about the boat being hers. I like Rod. He’s a pretty well-written character, even if it’s all plot dumps, and I hope he lives to the end. I’d like a prequel about his life. I’m thinking his game would be the game of the year. Then we go home and have a good sleep.

...But not really. In the middle of the night, Rue wakes up and sees Clare outside. He rushes out and chases her around town. We see her walk into the church, where, before anything can be said, the two of them are attacked by Psychic Master. He has a gimmick where you can only hit him from behind. If you hit his face, he’ll Sith Choke you and throw you aside. Regardless of how well you do, he kidnaps Clare and tells us to come to the tower. And so, that’s what we’ll do...

...tomorrow!

As I played tonight, I felt like not much happened. Writing all this, though, showed that a lot happened. Even me leaving out many of the plot points, like the fun conversations between Prima and Mint, Prima and Rod, and Duke, in general, made this take a while to write. I’m not sure about the main characters, but a lot of the side people are fun and interesting. I doubt they’ll have much plot and screen time, especially going forward, but it just shows how important tertiary characters are to video games. If you’re a writer, never focus on one or two characters. We’re coming into the homestretch of Rue’s story, and I’m curious how it’ll end.
