I'm dropping Breath of Fire III

It's probably far too early for me to do this, but I am. I think there's a time skip I should have at least made my goal. The plot isn't doing anything for me, and I think I missed some vital things with Masters. The battle system is fine, but the mechanics around it are terrible. I hate how I feel punished for exploring. Why is accuracy so bad? Hell, why are all my characters so bad? I don't mind silent protagonists, but Ryu is just meh, and I hate Momo. I'm just not having fun. But it's not BoF3's fault, either. There are several other games I'd rather be playing right now. Final Fantasy IV, Phantasy Star, Shining Force, Grandia...

Unlike the other game I dropped, I may end up coming back to this one later.  I do want to see what the fuss about the serious is about, but I need a break. Four days in, and I'm already burnt out. If I continued, I'd end up giving it an unfair deal.

The last thing I did today was walk around the terribly designed farm to talk to Palet. This wasn't even a dungeon, so the conveyor belt puzzle was stupid. Palet told us he lied to us. The machines are fine, but one of them spawned a monster that's sitting off to the left, which he asks us to dispose of. During the conversation, I am Ryu and Nina. The whole time, they're goofing off because they have no value in this subplot. So we head to the dump. We don't take the monster with us... Inside the garbage heap are a bevy of mobs that take forever to kill. I got two of the treasures, but I needed to leave and rest up after each one. I just feel painfully underleveled.

I got to the Mutant boss. It seemed interesting, discussing what a mutant is and if they should be disposed of, but then it attacked us. I would have let it live. I couldn't kill him and needed a break. I looked up what's to come in the story, and I found it pretty stupid. This was the gentle push I needed to put the game down. Again, maybe I'll be back. There's something here, but it may not be for me. Onward and upwards!
